Just to Clarify, You need a Clarisonic!

One of the most frequent questions people ask  is, "How can I can shrink my pores?" I bet you've even heard before that warm water opens them and cold water closes them. Oh, if it were that easy. Sorry bacteria, my pores are closed today you'll have to go elsewhere!

One of the reasons for this widespread myth is that warm water can have some benefits for pores. Warm water softens plugs that cause pores to look large and open. This makes it much easier for dirt and debris to make their way out. That being said warm water alone will do very little.  Once your pores have reached a certain size, whether by genetics or lack of maintenance, the only way to make them look smaller is to keep them clean. You must exfoliate!

There are many types of exfoliates, but all of them fall under these two categories:  chemical and mechanical.  Mechanical exfoliation encompasses all types of exfoliation that require friction. Chemical is when an acid is applied to the skin that literally eats away at the dead cells. When it comes to home maintenance, mechanical is the simplest and safest.

That being said, not all exfoliates are created equal! Dermatologists agree that many grit filled products are too harsh for the skin. They can even leave you with tiny abrasions that cause inflammation and a break down of collagen. What? That's the opposite of what we want! Luckily, the ever advanced people of Clarisonic can make your exfoliation routine as simple as the push of a button.

This professional favorite has been on the market for 14 years now, and is still the reigning cleansing aid champion. The most notable difference between the Clarisonic and it's competitors is its use of ultrasonic technology. Unlike spinning cleansing brushes, it uses sonic frequency to oscillate at over 300 movements per second, loosening dirt and debris, and literally shaking it out of your pores. This is one powerful way to cleanse!

This product can be used with most cleansers, but of course our favorite line is Skinprint! Try the Balancing Cleanser for normal skin or Blemish Control for acne prone or oily skin to really deliver the 'one-two punch.' Thanks to the variety of brush heads Clarisonic has to offer, it can be used on all skin types. Even cooler, they also make a body brush attachment to combat the ever dreadful 'bacne'!

Here at Nuveau, we are big fans! Trust me everyone in this office is Clarisonic clean! Come in and visit for a complimentary consultation, and find out what brush head and routine works best for you. There is finally an answer to that age old question, "How do I shrink my pores?" You can reduce the size and appearance with proper exfoliation, and just to clarify, you need a Clarisonic!

     -Happy Cleansing,
                  M
