Spa Party Saturday - DIY Body Mud Treatment

Saturday is here and it's time to unwind. After a stressful week who wouldn't love a trip to the spa? Every Saturday I will share a DIY tip to bring the Spa home to you! This week? We are mud bathing baby! This is a treatment I do every other week during the summer. It's so easy, you can do it for a fraction of what you would pay a professional!

What you'll need:

  1. A mechanical scrub. Don't break the bank here. You will be using a lot of this product. Spend a few dollars on a sugar or salt scrub or make your own by raiding your pantry. If you are prone to breakouts avoid anything with oil in it. You can mix it with lotion or water to make it more emollient.

2. A mud or clay mask. Again, you will be using a lot of this product so it's not necessary to spend a lot on it. There are great masks at drugstores that will do the trick.

3. A paint brush!

4. A shower or tub.

Once you've gathered your tools you are pretty much all set for this one! Start by exfoliating your body head to toe and rinsing. This will rid your skin of all the old cells and prep it for your mud treatment. Then slather on your mud! I use a soft paint brush for my chest and back. Grab some reading material and wait for the mask to dry. This is usually about 10-15 minutes and rinse. When the mud dries it will grab on to dirt, oil, and debris and literally pull it from your pores. Always follow with a moisturizer as mud can be drying.

Feeling festive? Light some candles, lower the lights and play some music. Spa Saturday is a frame of mind, so use your imagination! My bathroom at home is my sanctuary. The men have a man-cave, you deserve to have your home spa!

-Happy Saturday!
